Benjamin Sauzereau

Benjamin Sauzereau is a french guitar player and composer living in Brussels. His music usually investigates the meeting points of composition, improvisation and arrangement.

Sauzereau has been leading for some years the following bands, each of them answering a desire to explore and write for a specific instrumentation, a specific sound, and a specific interaction between musicians: Les Chroniques de l’Inutile, Easy Pieces, Philémon, le chien qui ne voulait pas grandir, the Sauzereau/Roosens duo, and a solo program.

At Walter’s opening night Sauzereau will be performing a simple guitar solo: instrumental pieces, written and half improvised musical haikus, somewhere between Arvo Pårt, Duke Ellington, The White Stripes and Nino Rota.

'....good luck finding an appropriate genre label for Teun Verbruggen’s Bureau Of Atomic Tourism. While the sextet delves headfirst into abstract free improvisation that abandons all conventional takes on musical notions such as melody, harmony and rhythm at one point, you witness them raging like a well-oiled outfit with years of experience the next.’

The sextet is now working on new repertoire by Jozef Dumoulin and will be touring Belgium and Holland in September 2018.
