Simorgh is a project by João Lobo. Following his 2017 solo album Nowruz, João recruited guitarist Norberto Lobo and bassist Soet Kempeneer for Simorgh. Named after a phoenix-like bird from Persian mythology, first trio album Simorgh was recorded mostly live during summer 2019 at les ateliers claus in Brussels. Gonzo Magazine mentioned the trio as being the best 2020 psychadelica in Brussels.

In 2022 Simorgh is back for a third and last creation in this trilogy, this time hosted at Werkplaats Walter. João Lobo will spend his residency week in October creating and recording a totally new repertoire for an extended version of the trio. Lynn Cassiers will join João, Norberto and Soet, to add text and texture with her unique sound.
At the end of the week, they'll present this brand new repertoire to the public in an intimate concert at Walter.
